Great tips for Photographing Couples!

Ready, Aim…Action (& Romance)  in Couples Photography

Photographing couples is a revenue creator for photography businesses because  people adore taking pictures with a loved one. Unfortunately, a lot of the pictures are traditional and…dare it be said…oh so boring. The man and woman looking straight forward at the camera are obviously posed. That takes a lot of interest out of the picture though the client certainly ends up with a memento for the family archives. Ho hum…

Couples pictures are usually made for one of 3 reasons: engagement, wedding or life milestones. Milestones include events like anniversaries, or turning 40 years old. You can certainly expand your studio revenue by catering to the couple’s market niche. However, though not all pictures of couples are meant to be romantic, it’s probably safe to say that most couple photographs are taken to celebrate romance. So consider this: is romance boring or uneventful? Of course not! So why are so many pictures so ho-hum?

Have You Tried Coffee Shop Marketing?

While there is so much emphasis being placed on marketing your business online, don’t forget about essential elements to market your business OFFLINE too. Research consistently shows that combining the two will lead to much more success than only utilizing one or the other.

Effective marketing is all about marketing one to MANY as opposed to past years’ approach of marketing one to one in your business. So, even in your offline marketing strategy, I want you to make sure you’re thinking in terms of what will reach the MOST ideal brides for your business effectively.

You need to be where your brides hang out. For my own business, this included boutiques, coffee shops, banks, cafes, other wedding vendors, venues and more! It helps to have a spreadsheet with this information too so that you can also keep your information at these locations continually stocked.

Marketing Message

Google recently announced Google+, its a new social network platform that wants to make sharing on the internet more like sharing in real life. Google has been trying to find a concrete response to Facebook’s enormous success, and I think they found it with Google+.

google-plus-vs-facebook1

We asked CMD’s award winning Marketing Director Andrew T. which one he considers to be the best social media platform?

“I’ve solemnley refused Facebook for my own personal online presence. I guess you could say I’m Google+’ed hooked, for now. I find its no nonsense user friendly Circle and privacy protected areas, non intrusive advertising including its multiple user video features that Facebook doesn’t offer (and  probably wont) extremely beneficial.”

We would like to hear from you. Would you leave Facebook for Google+?
